The SS Marie arrived in Temagami in 1903 and was drug over ice and snow by a team of 16 horses. The Belle, possibly the most famous of the ferries, was built in Temagami in 1906. The Aubrey Cosens came to Temagami from Boston in 1910. Kokomis, a converted sailboat, came to Temagami during the First World War.
